I decided to study Greek so I could better understand the texts and better teach my Sunday School class. Mounce's books and other tools have opened up the New Testament to me as never before. They are user friendly and non-threatening and fun. Good Idea...poorly executed:

Since Zondervan invites feedback at the end of the book, the following is a copy of an email I sent to them.
I am using Dr. Mounce's "Greek for the Rest of Us" (hardback edition) as a textbook for a class called "Greek Study Tools" at a missionary training facility. I was excited to learn of this book, and after very quickly skimming it, decided to use it as my textbook. Demanding, but satisfying.:

College level. You will learn New Testament Greek if you stick with this book.

For the Bible Student:

It is a great book. It explains why translations are different and why you should not get frustrated with the different ones.
It also teaches the basics of how to do your own bible study 'from scratch'. Then, allows you to add the richness of other scholar's commentaries to your studies. I have learnt so much even though I have not finished reading and studying from it as yet.
